Care home activities

With the world seeming to slow back down to normality after two years of chaos caused by COVID-19, it may be easy to forget the pandemic is still negatively affecting many people and many sectors. One such sector is the care home industry. Due to the continued health concerns of the pandemic on the elderly, who are especially vulnerable to the virus, protecting their safety continues to be of the most importance.

Because of this, our care homes have had to think of new ways to allow our residents to enjoy a positive quality of life while maintaining their safety. Salford’s Broughton’s Care Home has been one of our homes that has come up with such a solution. Debra, our activities coordinator, has been devising regular activity packs and events to help bring the outside world into the safety of our homes. Packs like these include a variety of specially tailored content for the residents. These include recent human-interest stories and important world news events. Residents will also find a variety of different activities in the packs, including topical quizzes such as one for St Patrick’s Day and a Premier League game for football fans.

There have been numerous glowing reviews and strong enthusiasm for these packs among our residents. This personalisation has been a strong point, with residents having a say on exactly what type of stories and activities they want to see during weekly meetings within the home. We will continue to improve and enrich our residents’ lives while maintaining the highest levels of safety possible.
